The children of St. James are meant to be seen and heard!

At St. James by-the-Sea, our Children’s Ministries program strives to provide an environment that honors and develops the child’s innate ability to connect with their Creator. We aim to be a young family-centered church, giving the children a sacred space where they can worship, wonder, make new friends and be themselves. As we grow this already vital and thriving ministry we welcome the children’s Joyful noise as an integral part of the future of our faith and church.

Curriculum
We are in the beginning stages of developing a thriving Godly Play program. This Montessori-based curriculum and foundation allows the children to build a language of wondering that fosters a lifelong faith in their Creator. We are also using a curriculum called Weaving God’s Promises that honors the liturgical rhythm of our faith while showing the children how God is inextricably woven into their lives.

![]() Meet Gabrielle (Miss Gabby) Strickler, Director Of Children’s Ministries
Greetings to new members, old friends and guests. For me St. James is a place of joyful noise, deep and rich history, dedication, love and children. Intelligent, amazing, caring, funny, challenging, generous and wonderful children! The best part of my job is that it changes every Sunday and I am never bored because I know at any moment a small voice may say the most profound thing I have ever heard. I am the most privileged and honored person to be working with these amazing small people, and to be a member and employee of a church that truly cares about the growth and development of its Children’s Ministries program. When I walked into this building three years ago on Mother’s Day, I would never have believed that those first cautious steps would lead to such a love of place and a career change. And now here I am and I have never been happier. I only hope to serve this job, this church, and God to the best of my abilities. I look forward to growing our ministry, nurturing the friendships I have made and cultivating new ones.
