Serving the Homeless

St. Mark's Food Pantry, City Heights - Weekly food donations  Contact Kay Scavulli
Brown Bag Ministry at St. James - Monthly preparations of non-perishable lunch bags for distribution

Episcopal Community Services (ECS) - Friend to Friend Clubhouse for homeless (once a year prepare lunch for 40 guests); Donate & Serve Thanksgiving Dinner  Contact Martha Ehringer.
Episcopal Church Center, Ocean Beach (ECC) - St. James has made a commitment to serve dinner to the homeless in Ocean Beach at the Episcopal Church Center five times in 2017-18. Volunteers are needed to set up, cook, serve and clean up each time from 4:30 to 7:00 pm. Eight to ten volunteers are needed each time we provide meals. There is one menu so all those cooking will cook the same thing and we will transport the food to the ECC. You can volunteer to serve once or all five meals throughout the year.  Contact Sherry Seymour.  Other ECC work includes Lenten Shoe/Sock Drive (Spring) and Maundy Thursday Foot Washing
Walk-In MInistries at St. James​ - Provide for the needy at our doorstep with a warm smile and a hot cup of coffee;  Distribute sack lunches, as available;  Provide reloading of Metro Compass cards (once a quarter)  ​Contact the church office 858-459-3421

Hand-made comfort shawls and lap robes for the St. Paul’s Senior Pace Program, blankets and other items for refugee children, knit and crocheted hats for UCSD NICU babies, sensory mats for Dementia and Alzheimer’s patients at St. Paul’s.  We have people who knit, people who crochet, and now our new project allows people who don’t do either to participate. Contact Barbara Alcorn
