No turkey In London, but still thankful for good food and fun!
Anyone who has traveled to London or the UK over Thanksgiving will quickly realize they are missing something: The entire holiday! Good luck finding a turkey dinner with all of the fixings, but no matter, there is still lots to do and eat.
Father Mark recently shared that almost all of his family activities revolve around food. He and his family like going out to breakfast and lunches at great British pubs. Seafood is his favorite, and if offered a last meal, it would certainly include oysters and a crab sandwich, washed down with what else, the obvious warm beer.
After a nice lunch, Mark likes long walks, gardening and visiting art galleries. Mark also likes going to the movies. His favorite film of all time is Orson Wells in "The Third Man". One of the things he will truly miss about London is the British Film Institute which shows a wonderfully broad range of films old and new. He has been going there since he was a student.
When asked about his idea of a perfect night out, he mentioned a trip last summer to Paris when they caught a matinee show of the Alvin Ailey dance company, dinner in a nice restaurant and a late night opening at an art gallery. His favorite museums include the Wallace Collection in London, the Prado in Madrid and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
