Jeremiah 29 vs 1, 4-13
In this passage we read a letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent to the people of Israel who were exiled in the land of Babylon. In our current, peculiar, situation we are not “exiles”, but we might be “in-xiles”. We haven’t been sent away, we’ve been told to stay home and shelter in place. However, the advice Jeremiah gave to the exiles is just as relevant to us. He said, “…build houses and live in them, plant gardens and eat what they produce…” In other words, “make the best of it”, don’t complain about what you don’t have, the loss of your old life. Instead, make the best of what you have got in your new situation.
