There has been a White Elephant Sale at St. James since 1931.

Where the Money Goes
All the money from both the main sale and the Christmas Bazaar goes to local, national and international mission projects. The total raised for grants from the main sale in 2020 was $51,945.18. Grants have gone to such causes as Uptown Safe Haven, the Shower Ministry, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Christie’s Place, San Diego Military Outreach, San Diego Rescue Mission, Juvenile Court Book Club, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s Senior Services, Refugee Network, Students Helping Honduras, Vida Joven orphanage, and Episcopal Relief & Development. The 2020 grants have been awarded to the following recipients: Parish: St. James Walk-in-Ministries Diocese: ECS-Recovery Center St. Luke’s Episcopal Church St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Community: Big Table Urban Life Ministries S.D. Refugee Tutoring St. Paul’s Senior Services Juvenile Court Book Club SD Military Outreach Ministries (M.O.M.)
