Youth Ministry

Picture
Our mission is to provide a gospel centered curriculum that welcomes, supports and nurtures
our young people across every stage of their spiritual Journey.

Our Youth Ministry is divided into two groups
to better accommodate developmental milestones and personal faith journeys.

Middle School Youth Group: 6th-8th grades: Middle School Youth group meets at 9:00 in the Loft for a breakfast Bible Study. Here they study the Episcopal curriculum, Rite13: Journey to Adulthood. The curriculum “is centered on inclusive, relational ministry and uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, and outreach ministries. Creative, developmentally appropriate lessons are arranged within three categories of Self, Society, and Spirituality.” This group will be led by several teachers including Dewitt Jones, Katelyn Webster, and Leighton Jones with special guest appearances by Christina Miller, Fa. Mark and Mo. Rebecca.

High School Youth Group: 9th-12th grades: High School Youth will utilize the 9:00 Adult Education program or have the option to volunteer their time and talents during the 9:00 Education hour with Children’s Ministries. The High School Youth Group will meet for study after the 10:00 service at 11:00 in the Gallery. This group uses lessons from J2A, a youth ministry program of spiritual formation and the continuation of the Rite13 curriculum. They also dive into the weekly Gospel readings using study resources from EDSD’s www.myfaithtogo.org and The African Bible Study Method as guides. The main leader for this group is Leighton Jones with help from Katelyn Webster.

For this Fall, Middle School Youth will begin with a theme of “In God’s Image” (September 11-October 23rd) and finish 2022 in a theme of “Prayer” (October 30th-January 8th).
